With over sixteen years of experience working in multiple facets of the marine and construction industry, Nick Pajic brings a unique perspective to your dredging and construction needs. Nick started working for Kingsland Reach Marina in 1999 at the age of 13. Starting work pumping gas and cleaning boats, he worked his way through many roles including; general laborer, technician, service writer, service manager, infrastructure repairs, marina manager, watercraft operations instructor, bookkeeping, human resources management, IT integration, watercraft sales, and operations manager. After experiencing first hand a mechanical dredging operation at the marina, and based on his experiences working in the family construction business, he knew a neater, cleaner, more economical dredging solution could be offered. So he went into partnership with his father, Joe Pajic, to introduce hydraulic dredging to the family’s construction business. This service was a natural progression for both Nick and Joe, combining their skills and background in marine operations, construction, and environmental conservation.

An active member of the boating community, Nick “lived aboard” a boat on the James River for several years. This experience has made him a lifelong conservationist, dedicated to the quality and efficiency of services along with mitigating the environmental impact of all projects. He is an avid fisherman and SCUBA diver. His other credentials include: Master Certified Bombardier Recreational Products Technician, Certified Scarab MPS Technician, Licensed Virginia Watercraft Salesman, Virginia Notary Public, DEQ Responsible Land Disturber and holds a Virginia Class A CDL.

Joe started his career as a teenager working for his family’s business developing and constructing a 175-acre campground. This work included plan drawing, construction, storm water management, underground utilities and the construction of a lake and two ponds. He developed mechanical skills working as a fleet mechanic until moving to ARA Services where he learned refrigeration, automation and electronic controls. During this time, he completed a two year program at Lincoln Technical Institute earning certification as a computer technician.

Returning back to construction Joe started his first business, Piney Hollow Enterprises in the early 1980’s. The company did residential and commercial construction and maintenance. Customers included Scott Paper and NJ Bell Telephone Company. In 1986 Joe & family moved his business to Virginia. He obtained a Class A Contractors license and continued work under the name Joseph M. Pajic Inc. Construction.

With a growing family and the construction market slowing down, Joe then successfully applied for a position with the Commonwealth as a Game Warden in 1989. He has served in Prince William Co., King & Queen Co. and Henrico Co. and was promoted through the ranks to Sergeant, Lieutenant and in 2007 to Captain. During this time he continued to serve his community as an active church member, volunteer firefighter, Lions Club member and a Little League coach. While serving as Captain, Joe oversaw a 22 county region of the Commonwealth. Prior to retirement, he served in VDGIF’s Richmond HQs managing the Communications, Information Technology and the Law Enforcement Division’s statewide fleet. While working for the state Joe established Pajic Construction in 2008 doing small excavating jobs. Upon retiring in April 2015, he went into partnership with his son, Nick and has been able to fully focus on the business. When you hire Pajic Construction you get the benefit of 40 years of experience and the forward-thinking knowledge of a new generation.
